WHYFARM’s Project “Creatively Empowering Youth and Kid Agripreneurs as Global Citizens to Achieve Food and Nutrition Security by the Year 2050” focuses on SGD 2 – Zero Hunger. This 18-month project is being executed between November 2018 to April 2020 in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T). The Project Launch will take place at 10:30 am on Friday March 8, 2019 at the United States Embassy of Port of Spain, Public Affairs Section, Conference Room.

To excite and creatively engage the future feeders of the 9 billion population of 2050 to recognize and embrace their role as Agrientrepreneurs (“Agripreneirus”), WHYFARM will implement 4 projects that build human capacity and agency, influence perceptions, behavior and policy to support youth engagement and participation in Agriculture in T&T. These projects will directly impact over 2000 persons and includes the following:

1. “The Agripreneur MasterMind Program,” an innovative 8-week training and mentorship program that Calls to Action T&T’s Agripreneurs to scaleup an existing product or service, and create a Plan of Action to create bridges for collaboration between policy makers and youth engaged in the agri-value chain.

2. “AgriKOOLture Kidz School Drama Tour & Farm to Table Competition” is a 12 week Agri-Drama school tour that will educate and engage primary school students on the global food crisis, and how they can contribute to achieving food and nutrition security in T&T.

3. The “AGRIMAN Adventures Comic Series” will develop comic strips and extend the AGRIMAN comic book sequence to cover important sustainable agriculture concepts and specific SDG 2 targets.

4. An “Agricultural Fun, Museum and Food Factory Park” will be developed at the WHYFARM Headquarters in Siparia to engage visitors on food production cycles and opportunities for participation in the agri-value chain.

Founded in 2015, WHYFARM pioneers Agri-edutainment with a mission of growing future feeders from the ground up. This project builds on WHYFARM’s activities to date that have gained international recognition for agricultural youth advocacy.

To increase the impact of this project and leverage co-benefits and synergies WHYFARM will partner with many government, public, private and international organizations in T&T and abroad who all contribute to youth empowerment and agri-entrepreneurship.
